How does the program work?

Simple! The State of Maryland is encouraging more clean energy to be connected to the grid. To encourage people to sign up, each subscriber receives energy credits on their existing Potomac Edison account. These credits lower your energy payments each month.

What is my environmental impact with Common Energy?

You will prevent between 6,000-15,000 pounds of carbon emissions each year, depending on your utility and your electricity usage. Over the lifetime of a project this equates to preventing 120,000-300,000 pounds of carbon emissions. This is a direct reduction of emissions and pollution in your community!

How much will I save?

Your savings each month will vary on your usage and how much clean energy the Rockdale solar farm produces. For most households, it equates to $10-$25 each month.

Am I actually supporting new clean energy?

Yes. Unlike many companies who simply purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), when you sign up with Common Energy you help bring new clean energy projects to the grid. These projects directly reduce emissions in your community.

Does Common Energy have a referral program?

Yes! And we love getting help signing up friends and family members for lower cost clean electricity! We currently offer a $50 gift card for each friend you refer that gets connected. Refer 10 friends and we will provide you with one full year of solar energy at no cost!
