Community solar is a new state program passed in New York, Maryland and Illinois that enables virtually anyone to support clean energy, and receive guaranteed savings on their electricity each month.
Instead of installing solar panels on your home, households and businesses can now sign up to receive clean energy credits from a local solar project. These credits lower your energy cost each month. In addition, because renewable energy has first priority to the grid, this energy replaces fossil fuels, lowering emissions in your community.
Virtually every household in the state qualifies for these new programs. Common Energy have signed up over 3,000 households and we need your help to reach more!
Energy from the sun is converted into clean electricity by the community solar farm.
This clean electricity is connected to the utility, replacing fossil fuels.
Electricity flows as normal from your utility through the broader electrical grid to your home.

We are a Community Solar subscription management organization. We connect regular people’s electricity accounts to clean energy, supporting the addition of NEW solar farms on the electrical grid. Our work displaces fossil fuel use and is an essential part of the national transition to a clean energy economy!
View agreementAt its simplest form, the Common Energy’s Partner Program allows you to earn commission for signing up customers into our clean energy savings program. Each person you enroll receives guaranteed savings on their electricity, and helps lower emissions in their community.
View agreementCommon Energy helps people access Clean Energy Credits, the state incentive that comes with signing up for Community Solar. When an individual signs up for Community Solar, these credits will appear on their bill every month to indicate how much clean energy they are receiving and the accompanied savings.
View agreementNo. We are a community solar provider, registered with the New York Department of Public Service, and the Maryland Public Service Commission. A customer can choose Common Energy regardless of who their electricity supplier is, and there is no impact on the existing electricity supply contract.
View agreementYou will be paid a commission based on the energy usage of each home you enroll. On average, you will earn between $150 and $400 per home. You will be paid half of the commission every two weeks via bank deposit, and the other half once your referral pays their first invoice to Common Energy. There is no limit on how many homes you can enroll.
View agreementNope! Signing up and participating in Common Energy’s Partner Program is completely free. Plus, there are no minimum sales required to earn commission.
